Are diabetes and/or high blood pressure permanent?

Is diabetes and high blood pressure permanent?

Diabetes and high blood pressure don’t have to be something you live with forever! Michael and Brian’s stories show that with a little hard work, support, and the right attitude, you can improve your health.

‍

Michael’s Health Journey: Breaking Free from Diabetes

Michael’s family had a rough time with diabetes. Some of his relatives even had to deal with losing their vision and amputations. But Michael was determined to make sure his story was different. When he found out his A1C was at a dangerously high 11.5, he knew it was time to make a change.

Finding His "Why"

Michael thought about how his family had suffered and told himself, “That’s not gonna be me!” So, he made a decision to turn things around. Instead of running straight to the gym, he started with something small: walking his dogs every day. Simple, right? But it worked! Michael ended up losing 85 pounds in just a year and brought his A1C down to 5.4. That's one healthy transformation!

Taking the First Steps

Michael didn’t rush into the gym or drastic measures. Instead, he started small. His first step? Walking his dogs daily. This simple habit helped him lose 85 pounds in one year and brought his A1C down to a much healthier 5.4. It wasn’t about perfection—it was about consistency and making healthy choices every day.

Building His Support Team

Michael didn’t do it all by himself. He got the best support from a team at Scene Health. Every day, he checked in with nurses, pharmacists, and life coaches who cheered him on. “The support was amazing,” Michael said. “It felt like a family!” With their help, he realized that diabetes doesn't have to last forever.

Brian’s Health Journey: Winning Against High Blood Pressure!

Just like Michael, Brian had his own health struggles. He was dealing with high blood pressure and diabetes, but he didn’t let that stop him from taking control! His story proves that you don’t have to accept high blood pressure as your life.

A Big Change in Weight

Brian knew that weight was a big part of his health problems. At his heaviest, he weighed around 350 pounds. Brian worked hard and lost 65 pounds over the course of a year! Now he weighs 283 pounds and is working toward a healthy weight of 220 pounds. His weight loss has made a massive difference in his health, especially his blood pressure.

Improved A1C and Heart Health

Brian also worked hard to lower his A1C. It went from 8.3 to 6.1—now that’s some impressive progress! And his heart health improved too. Brian's story shows us that if you take care of your health, your heart will thank you!

Managing Blood Pressure

One of Brian's biggest wins was getting his blood pressure in check. Just a few months ago, his blood pressure was way too high. Now, it’s sitting pretty at 100/79. That’s the kind of blood pressure doctors love! Brian says you can totally manage high blood pressure with the right support and healthy habits.

The Power of Support

Brian also swears by the power of support. “Having the coaches and nurses there to remind me of important things was a game changer,” he said. They helped him talk to his doctor about his health and encouraged him every step of the way. With support, making healthy changes becomes so much easier!

Staying Healthy for His Grandkids

Brian’s biggest motivation? His grandkids! He wants to be around to see them grow up, graduate, and dance at their weddings. Brian says that staying healthy is all about being there for the big moments—and for him, that means staying strong and healthy for his family!

The Takeaway

If you’ve been struggling with diabetes or high blood pressure, don’t worry! You can make changes today. Start small with eating healthier, getting active, and asking for support. You’ve got this!

Michael and Brian’s stories prove that it’s never too late to take charge of your health. So, if they can do it, so can you! đŸƒâ™‚ïžđŸ’Ș
