Lower your stress levels

Are you feeling stressed as the year comes to an end? Managing stress is an important part of keeping your blood pressure under control. Here are some simple tips to help you relax:

Take deep breaths

Take a few moments each day to do some deep breathing. Inhale slowly through your nose, hold for a few seconds, and then exhale through your mouth. This can calm your body. We also love using Calm's app for breathing and meditation.

Get enough sleep

Try to get at least 7-8 hours of sleep each night. If you have trouble sleeping, try doing relaxing things before bedtime. Reading or taking a warm bath can help you to settle down. Avoid screens close to bed time.

Stay connected

Talking with friends and family can be a great way to de-stress. Share your worries and concerns, or simply enjoy some quality time together.

By managing your stress, you're taking an important step to keep your hypertension under control. Try these simple tips and make the new year a healthier and happier one! We love what Heart.org says about stress management, reduce stress by recognizing where you have control.
